Sophia Tarry got her start in gymnastics at the age of two in mommy and me classes. Sophia loved being in the gym from the start and progressed through classes, eventually being invited to join the team program at North County Gymnastics. Sophia began competing in the fall of 2019 as a level 3. At her first meet, Blast from the Past, Sophia finished sixth on vault and beam. During her season, Sophia had her best meet at the Tricks 4 Treats meet where she won the vault title with a 9.800 and came in third on bars, beam, floor, and in the all around. Three weeks later at the SoCal State Championships, Sophia won a silver medal on floor and came in the top 10 on beam.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sophia didn't compete during the 2020 season. In 2021, Sophia competed at the SoCal State Championships as a level 4. Here, Sophia came in second on beam and sixth on floor and in the all around.
Currently, Sophia trains 20 hours per week at TRC South Gymnastics under coaches Darrel and Pam. . Sophia's goal for the 2022 season is to compete level 7. In the future, Sophia hopes to earn a college scholarship to UCLA for gymnastics.
