Until the age of six, Miah and her family lived in Zambia. When Miah and her family were on an extended trip to the United States when she was four, Miah took a gymnastics class for a few weeks and absolutely loved it. Once Miah and her family moved to the United States in the summer of 2015, Miah began taking recreational classes two times a week and was invited to join the team program at Tech Gymnastics at the age of seven.
Miah competed level 2 during the 2016-2017 season and following the season began training at Metropolitan Gymnastics. Miah competed level 3 during the 2017-2018 season. Miah competed at nine meet before competing at the Washington State Championships where she earned bronze medals on bars and in the all around as well as a spot on the Washington State All Star Team. As a level 4 during the 2018-2019 season, Miah began her season at the Pumpkin Fest where she took second on vault and bars and fourth all around. In April at the Washington State Championships, Miah brought home silver medals on bars, beam, and in the all around. For the second year in a row, Miah earned a spot on the Washington State All Star Team.
During the summer of 2019, Miah participated in TOPs State Testing. From state testing, Miah qualified to TOPs National Testing as one of the top 100 ten year olds in the country. Unfortunately, right before national testing, Miah broke her ankle and was only able to participate in the physical abilities portion of national testing. After recovering from her ankle injury, Miah tested out of level 5 and went on to compete level 6 in 2020. At her first level 6 meet, Miah took third on bars and fifth all around. Miah had her best meet of her season at the Cascadian Team Challenge where she won the beam and floor titles as well as a second place finish in the all around. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Miah's season was cut short as the remainder of the season was canceled.
Currently, Miah trains 25 hours per week under coaches Cathy Sutherland, Nina McCalister, and Yulia Hancheroff at Metropolitan Gymnastics. Miah is training for the 2021 level 8 season and is also training for Hopes. Miah's goal for the 2021 season is to qualify Hopes Compulsory. In the future, Miah's goal is to represent Team USA as a senior elite gymnast as well as earn a college scholarship for gymnastics.
