McCartney Adams got her start in gymnastics at the age of three and loved the sport right away. McCartney began competing in the fall of 2013 as a level 3 with Airborne Gymnastics and won the bars title at her first meet. A few months later, McCartney went on to compete at the NorCal South State Championships where she won the beam and all around titles as well as taking third on bars and in the all around.
During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, McCartney competed level 4 and took home the vault and beam titles and second all around at the 2015 NorCal South State Championships. In her last year of compulsories as a level 5, McCartney began training with San Mateo Gymnastics and had a fantastic season and swept all four event titles and the all around at state.
McCartney began her optional career in December 2017 at the NAWGJ Judges Cup Qualifier as a level 7 where she won the vault title. At the NorCal State Championships, McCartney had a great meet and won the vault, beam, floor, and all around titles. From state, McCartney qualified to the Region 1 Championships as a member of the NorCal State Team. At regionals, McCartney had her best meet of the season, winning the vault and floor titles and coming in third all around with a huge 38.675.
As a level 8 in 2019, McCartney began her season at the Lady Luck Invitational whee she came home with bronze medals on beam and floor. In March, McCartney competed at the NorCal State Championships and won the floor title and took home silver medals on vault, beam, and in the all around. One month later, McCartney competed at the Region 1 Championships and finished second on beam and third on floor, concluding a great season.
Currently, McCartney trains 24 hours per week under coaches Meila O'Quinn and Ashot Gasparyan at San Mateo Gymnastics. In the future, McCartney's goal is to earn a division 1 college scholarship for gymnastics.
