Maya Kasten got her start in gymnastics at the age of three in a mommy and me class. Maya loved gymnastics right away and was invited to join the developmental team at the age of four. At the age of five, Maya began competing as a level 1.
As a level 1, Maya had a great spring and fall season. During her fall season, Maya finished in the top 2 in the all around at every meet. In November at the Florida State Championships, Maya swept the competition winning the vault, bars, beam, floor, and all around titles with a 38.975.
Competing level 4 during the spring 2021 season, Maya began her season at the Sand Dollar Invitational where she won the bars title and came in fourth all around. Two weeks later at the Florida State Championships, Maya won the bars title and earned silver medals on vault, beam, and in the all around.
Currently, Maya trains 35 hours per week under coaches Mario and Tania Amaya at Florida Gymnastics Training Center. Maya is currently training for her 2021-2022 level 7 season as well as for TOPs. In the future, Maya hopes to represent Team USA att the Olympics.
