Madeline Hedlund got her start ing gymnastics at the age of two in preschool classes. Madeline loved being in the gym from the beginning and was eventually invited to join the team program at A Plus Gymnastics.
Madeline began competing in January 2019 as a level 3. At her first meet, It's All Groovy, Madeline finished in the top ten on bars. In February at the Victory Challenge, Madeline came home with a bronze medal on bars and concluded her season.
Following her 2019 level 3 season, Madeline began training at DeVeau's School of Gymnastics. Madeline competed a second season of level 3 in 2020 and began her season at the Wabash Valley Classic where she finished in the top ten on vault. Two months later at the Indiana North State Championships, Madeline came in fifth on bars.
As a level 4 during the 2021 season, Madeline began her season at Circle of Stars. Here, Madeline finished fourth on beam. Madeline concluded her season at the Indiana State Championships with a strong competition. Madeline competed a second season of level 4 during the 2021-2022 season. Madeline kicked off her season at the GI Gymnast Invitational and came home with a bronze medal on beam and fourth place finishes on bars and in the all around.
Currently, Madeline trains 12 hours per week under coaches Katie Green and Taylor Smith at DeVeau's School of Gymnastics. Madeline's goal for her 2022 level 4 season is to score a 36.00 in the all around. In the future, Madeline hopes to compete level 10 and qualify to the Level 10 National Championships. Madeline also hopes to earn a college scholarship for gymnastics.
