Leah Fontaine got her start in gymnastics at the age of two as she had a lot of energy and was always climbing on whatever she could find. Leah loved being in the gym from the start and began competing in December 2013 as a level 3 with Capital Gymnastics. At her very first meet, Leah won the bars, floor, and all around titles. In May at the Virginia State Championships, Leah won gold on bars, beam, floor, and the all around with a huge 38.775.

Following her level 3 season, Leah participated in TOPs Testing. From state testing, Leah qualified to National Testing and from there, qualified to the TOPs National B Team. Leah began her 2014-2015 level 4 season at the Gymstrada Invitational. Here, Leah won the vault, bars, and all around titles. Four months later, Leah competed at the Virginia State Championships where she won the vault, floor, and all around titles as well as finished third on bars and beam.

For a second year following her level 4 season, Leah participated in TOPs and once again qualified to National Testing. This time, Leah qualified for the TOPs National A Team. Leah began her optional career as a level 7 at the Christmas on the Chesapeake in December 2015 where she came in third in the all around as well as second on floor. In January of 2016, Leah was invited to and attended Developmental Invite Camp. Leah had a great level 7 season and went on to win the vault title as well as second on bars, beam, floor and in the all around with a massive 39.125 at the Virginia State Championships.

During the off season, Leah trained for her 2016-2017 level 8 season as well as for Hopes. Leah kicked off her level 8 season at the Commonwealth Cup in November were she brought home a silver medal on bars and bronze medal on beam. Leah had her best meet of her level 8 season at the Shamrock Invitational where she came in third all around with a 38.400 as well as second on bars with a 9.700. Two week later at the Virginia State Championships, Leah won the vault title and took second on beam, floor, and in the all around. From state, Leah qualified to the Region 7 Championships where she concluded her season and finished fourth on bars. In May, Leah competed at the Parkettes National Elite Qualifier where she won the vault, beam, and all around titles and qualified to the Hopes Classic.

Leah competed her first and only level 9 meet in December 2017 at the Christmas on the Chesapeake Meet. Here, Leah came in second on bars. Leah competed her first level 10 meet in January 2018 at the Hill's Maryland Classic where she had a solid competition. Two weeks later, Leah competed at the Fiesta Bowl National Elite Qualifier where she earned her Hopes 12-13 compulsory score. At the Buckeye National Elite Qualifier, Leah won the bars, floor, and all around titles in the Hopes 12-13 division. Shortly after, Leah competed at the Orlando Metro National Elite Qualifier where she won the bars and all around titles and qualified to the Hopes Classic. In March at the Virginia State Championships, Leah earned silver medals on bars, beam, and in the all around as well as a bronze medal on floor. At the Region 7 Championships, Leah came in second on beam as well as third on bars. Leah also finished sixth all around, qualifying to the Level 10 National Championships. Leah concluded her level 10 season at nationals with a great first nationals appearance. In July 2018, Leah competed at the Hopes Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah. Leah finished up her season here with a top 20 finish on beam.

As a second year level 10, Leah began her 2018-2019 season at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet where she came in second on bars. In February, Leah competed at the Buckeye National Elite Qualifier where she qualified to the Hopes Classic for her second time. Three months later at the Virginia State Championships, Leah finished third on bars and in the all around. Leah then went on to the Region 7 Championships and brought home a silver medal on floor, a bronze medal on bars, and qualified to her second Level 10 National Championship. Leah finished up her level 10 season at nationals with an eighth place finish on floor. In May and throughout the rest of the season, Leah attended Developmental Camp.

In June 2019, Leah competed at the Hopes Classic. Here, Leah had a fantastic meet, coming in the top 10 on vault, bars, and beam, and qualified to the Hopes Championships.

With the goal to qualify junior elite in 2020, Leah competed at the KPAC National Elite Qualifier in March. Leah finished in the top 5 on bars, floor, and in the all around. Unfortunately, right after her session, the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Leah did not compete during the 2021 season, but came back strong during the 2021-2022 season. Leah kicked off her 2021-2022 season at Christmas on the Chesapeake and won the all around title as well as a silver medal on beam and bronze medal on bars.

Currently, Leah trains 29.25 hours per week under coaches Tatiana Perskaia, Tish Simmons, and Marina Gerom at Capital Gymnastics. Leah's goal for the 2022 season is to qualify elite. In the future, Leah hopes to earn a spot on the US National Team and receive a college scholarship for gymnastics.
