Kiara Bruening got her start in gymnastics when a friend brought her to a recreational class on a playdate at age 6, and Kiara has loved the sport ever since! Kiara began competing in September 2012 win Summit Gymnastics Academy in Flagstaff, Arizona as a level 4. At the Level 4 State Championships, Kiara won the bars title with a 9.700, the floor title with a 9.525, and placed second all around with a 37.825. As a level 5 in 2013, Kiara won the floor title at the Arizona State Championships and placed third all around.

After her level 5 season, Kiara moved to North Valley Gymnastics and began competing with them in January of 2014 as a level 6. Kiara did great as a level 6 winning the beam title with a 9.750 at the Arizona State Meet. In 2015, Kiara began competing level 7 where she went undefeated 5 meets in a row including the State Championships where she won the bars, floor, and all around titles, and the Region 1 Championships where she won the bars, beam, and all around titles.

Concluding level 7, Kiara began training at Impact Gymnastics Academy. As her first level 8 meet, Kiara won the all around as well as the vault title. From her first meet to State, Kiara went undefeated on vault. At the 2016 Arizona State Championships, Kiara won the vault, floor, and all around titles and made the Arizona State Team for the Region 1 Championships. At regionals, Kiara took home the gold on beam and placed second all around with a 38.075. Kiara competed level 9 during the 2017 season. Unfortunately, her season was cut short due to injuries.

Kiara began her 2018 level 10 season at the Flames Invitational where she placed first on floor and fifth all around. Throughout the season, Kiara continued to improve her scores on all four events. At the Arizona State Championships, Kiara placed seventh all around and qualified to the Region 1 Championships. Unfortunately, just days before regionals, Kiara was doing a double back on floor and ruptured her achilles, ending her season early.

Kiara came back for the 2019 season as a level 9. She competed her first meet at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, competing bars and beam. Two weeks before state, Kiara began competing the all around at the Valley of the Sun Challenge. Here, Kiara brought home gold medals on bars, beam, and in the all around. At the Arizona State Championships, Kiara had a great meet winning the all around and taking second on bars and beam and third on floor. From state, Kiara moved on to the Region 1 Championships where she had another fantastic meet winning the bars, beam, and all around titles and taking third on floor. Kiara then advanced to the Western Championships where she brought home a medal on beam.

Currently, Kiara trains at Arizona Dreams Gymnastics in Prescott, AZ under coach Summer Andrew.
