Biography
Kamilah Jorge Cay got her start in gymnastics at the age of six after beginning in dance classes and really enjoyed the gymnastics that was taught at dance class. Kamilah began competing in the fall of 2018 as a level 2 with Orlando Metro Gymnastics. In her first season of competitive gymnastics, Kamilah earned a silver medal on vault and came in fourth in the all around at the Florida State Championships.
Kamilah began her 2019 level 3 season at the Aloha Invitational where she came in second all around. Three months later at the Florida State Championships, Kamilah took second on floor and third on vault. Kamilah competed one more meet of level 3 following state, and then went on to compete her first level 4 meet in February 2020 at the City of Lights Meet.
Following the spring season, Kamilah began training at Broadway Gymnastics and competed level 4 during the 2020-2021 season. In February at the Florida State Championships, Kamilah took third on beam and fourth on floor and in the all around. The next month, Kamilah competed her first and last meet as a level 5 at the Leprechaun Classic where she came in third on vault and beam as well as fourth on floor and in the all around.
Currently, Kamilah trains 12 hours per week under coaches Jennifer Baker and Kyle Citty at Broadway Gymnastics Center. In the future, Kamilah hopes to earn a college scholarship for gymnastics.
