Kailin Chio started mommy and me gymnastics classes at the age of three, and was moved up to team at the age of four and a half. Kailin began competing in 2012 as a level four at the age of six with Gymcats Gymnastics. As a level 4, Kailin went undefeated in the all around and at the 2013 Nevada State Championships, Kailin won all four events and the all around with a 39.00. During the Summer of 2013, Kailin participated in TOPs Testing, and made the Diamond Team.

Due to the USA Gymnastics level change, Kailin competed one meet of level 4 during the fall season, and competed the rest of the season as a level 5. Kailin finished in the top 3 all around in all of her level 5 meets, and finished her season at the Nevada State Championships where she won the bars and floor titles and placed second all around. Kailin participated in TOPs again during the summer of 2014 and went on to make the TOPs National A Team as an eight year old. During the fall of 2014, Kailin prepared for level 7, and competed level 7 during the 2015 season. Kailin had a great level 7 season, won the all around at the State Championships, and made the Nevada State Team for the Region 1 Championships. At regionals, Kailin finished in the top 10 on beam. After her level 7 season, Kailin participated in TOPs again and went on to become the top nine year old in the country as a part of the TOPs A National Team.

In 2016, Kailin competed level 8. At the Nevada State Championships, Kailin had a fantastic meet, winning five gold medals with an all around score of 38.700. Kailin made the Nevada State Team for the second year in a row, and finished fifth all around at regionals. Kailin participated in TOPs for the last year over the summer, and made the TOPs National A team for the third time. During the fall of 2016, Kailin began preparing for Hopes which she would aim to qualify for during the 2017 season.

In 2017, Kailin competed level 9 while also aiming to qualify Hopes. In Kailin’s first Hopes qualifier of the season, Kailin qualified and won the all around. Kailin finished her level 9 season and won the all around at the Nevada State Championships. Kailin also placed second all around at regionals, and qualified to the Western National Championships where she placed third on beam. After completing her level 9 season, Kailin prepared for the Hopes Classic, a qualification meet to the Hopes Championships. At the Hopes Classic, Kailin placed first on bars and second all around, qualifying to the Hopes Championships. Kailin had a great meet at the Hopes Championships, placing second all around and making the Hopes Team.

Kailin began her 2018 level 10 season at the National Judges Cup where she placed second on vault and fourth all around. Next, Kailin competed at the Fiesta Bowl National Elite Qualifier where she earned her junior elite compulsory and optional scores - qualifying Kailin to the 2018 US Classic. Kailin continued to compete level 10 throughout the season and at her next meet, qualified to the 9th annual Nastia Liukin Cup. At the Nevada State Championships, Kailin placed second on vault and third on beam. Kailin went on to compete at the Region 1 Championships where she won the vault and floor titles and placed fourth all around, qualifying to the JO National Championships. Kailin had a fantastic meet at JO Nationals, winning silver medals on both beam and in the all around.

While Kailin's JO season had concluded, her elite season was just beginning. On July 7, Kailin competed at the American Classic in Salt Lake City, UT. Kailin didn't achieve her qualification score for the U.S. Championships, but she still had a great experience. Three weeks later, Kailin competed at the GK U.S. Classic and earned her qualification score for championships. Kailin concluded her 2018 elite season at the U.S. Championships. Here, Kailin competed as the youngest competitor and finished 11th all around out of 24 junior competitors.

Currently, Kailin trains 30-35 hours per week under coaches Jill Preston and Cassie Rice at Gymcats Gymnastics. In the future, Kailin’s goal is to be a part of the 2024 Olympic Team and earn a college scholarship to a division 1 gymnastics school.
