Kadence Gruba got her start in gymnastics at the age of eight after receiving some classes as a gift. Kadence took to gymnastics quickly and began competing level 3 at the age of nine with Champion Gymnastics. In her first season of competitive gymnastics, Kadence finished eighth on bars at the SoCal South State Championships.
In fall 2017, Kadence competed level 4. Kadence had a solid season and improved throughout the year. Kadence had her best performances of the season at the Tricks 4 Treats Invitational and the SoCal 3rd Prelim. At the Tricks 4 Treats Invitational, Kadence won the vault title and finished second on floor. Kadence finished her season at the SoCal South State Championships where she finished in the top 15 on floor.
In spring 2018, Kadence competed one meet of level 5: the Spring Fling Invitational, where she placed fifth on vault. Kadence began her optional career in January 2019 as a level 7 at the San Diego Classic. Here, Kadence won the beam title and finished fifth on bars and floor. Kadence improved throughout the season and finished seventh on beam at the SoCal State Championships. From state, Kadence qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she had a great meet, placing fifth on beam, seventh on vault, and tenth all around.
Currently, Kadence trains 24-28 hours per week under coach JJ Ross at Champion Gymnastics. In the next couple of years, Kadence’s goal is to qualify Hopes. In the future, Kadence hopes to earn a spot on the US National Team and represent Team USA at the Olympics.
