Julia Meza got her start in gymnastics in mommy and me classes when she was a baby and began to love the sport as she got older. She competed level 2 with Jing's Gymnastics as a five-year-old where she placed second all around at the Texas State Championships. After one meet of level 3, Julia began training with J and R Gymnastics and competed level 3 with them during the Fall 2014 season. Julia competed level 4 during the Fall 2015 season and placed in the top 10 on beam at the 2015 Texas North State Championship.
Julia competed her last year of compulsories in the Fall of 2016 as a level 5. Julia had a great season and had her best meet at the Texas State Championships where she scored a 37.300 in the all around. During the 2017 Optional season, Julia competed level 6 and won the all around at the Presidential Classic. Julia had a great meet at the Texas State Meet placing fourth on beam with a 9.725 and placing eighth all around with a 37.875 in a tough age division.
Julia began her 2018 level 7 season at the Atlantis Crown Invitational where she won the bars and all around titles. Julia continued to increase her all around score throughout the season. At the Texas State Championships, Julia finished second all around and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. At regionals, Julia placed in the top 10 on bars.
Currently, Julia trains 20 hours per week under coaches Karen Medellin and Jordan Kolhoff at J&R Gymnastics.
