Biography
Jansen Morris got her start in gymnastics at the age of two in a tots class. Jansen fell in love with the sport quickly and began competing in 2012 as a level 4 with Precision Gymnastics. Jansen had a great first season of competitive gymnastics and finished first on floor and second on beam and in the all around at the Texas North State Championships.
Following her 2012 level 4 season, Jansen began training at WOGA. Due to the USAG skill/level change, Jansen competed level 4 for the 2013 season. She won the all around titles at both the Texas North State Championships and the Texas State Championships. Jansen only competed one meet of level 5: the 2014 Rising Stars Invitational where she took third all around.
Jansen’s optional career began at the 2015 Texas Prime Meet as a level 7. Here, Jansen took second place on floor. Jansen went on to the Texas State Championships where she competed in a tough age division and placed fourth on bars with a 9.850. Jansen made it to the Region 3 Championships where she placed third on vault and sixth on floor. As a level 8 in 2016, Jansen won the bars title at the state championships. She also took home fourth all around. At regionals, Jansen won the bars and beam titles and placed second on floor and in the all around. Jansen decided to do another year of level 8 in 2017, and went on to win the beam title and take second all around with a 38.675 at state. Jansen wrapped up her season at the Region 3 Championships where she placed third all around.
Jansen opened up her 2018 level 9 season at the California Grand Invitational where she took home fourth on floor. Jansen continued to improve throughout the season and placed second on bars at state. Jansen had the best meet of her season at regionals where she won the beam title and placed third all around, qualifying to the Western Championships. Jansen had another solid meet at Westerns, placing in the top 10 on beam and floor.
Currently, Jansen trains 32 hours per week under coaches Zena Stewart and Janelle McDonald at WOGA in Plano, TX. In the future, Jansen hopes to qualify elite and earn a scholarship for gymnastics at a division 1 school.
