Biography
Isabella "Bella" Franklin got her start in gymnastics at the age of four after her appendix ruptured at the age of three and her doctors suggested that Bella should try gymnastics. Bella loved being in the gym and began competing as a level 2 at the age of five with NorCal Elite Gymnastics. As a level 2, Bella won four all around titles. Bella competed level 3 the following season with Oroville Gymnastics and finished in the top two in the all around at each meet. At the NorCal North State Championships, Bella won the vault, beam, floor, and all around titles.
Following her 2017 level 3 season, Bella began training at Rodina Elite Gymnastics. During the summer of 2018, Bella participated in TOPs Testing and made the TOPs National Diamond Team. Bella tested out of levels 4 and 5 to compete level 7 during the 2019 season and had her best meet of her season at the Napa Valley Invitational where she won the bars, beam, and all around titles. In March at the NorCal State Championships, Bella finished fifth on bars and sixth all around. From state, Bella qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she concluded her season with a fourth place finish on vault.
Bella competed a second season of level 7 in 2020 with Airborne Gymnastics. At her first meet of the season, Bella earned a silver medal on bars and floor. Bella improved her all around score at each meet of the season and was gearing up for the NorCal State Championships. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Isabella's season was cut short as the remainder of the season was canceled.
Due to COVID shutdowns in Northern California, Bella was only able to compete one meet of level 8 in 2021 at her gym's intrasquad.
Currently, Isabella trains at East Bay. Bella's goal for the 2022 season is to compete level 9. In the future, Bella hopes to qualify elite and then earn a college scholarship for gymnastics at UCLA.
