Hailey Openshaw began at the age of two at a Little Gym. Hailey loved gymnastics and quickly took to it. Hailey began competing in March 2014 as a level 2 with Olympus Gymnastics at the Crystal Cup where she placed third on vault, bars, beam, and in the all around.
During the 2015 season, Hailey competed level 4 and during the 2015 season, Hailey competed her last season of compulsories. Hailey finished her level 5 season at the Utah State Championships where she had a fantastic competition and came home with gold medals on beam, floor, and in the all around as well as a silver medal on bars.
Hailey began her optional career in January 2017 as a level 7 at the Rocky Mountain Invitational. Here, Hailey took second all around and third on floor. Hailey improved throughout the season and had a great meet at the Utah State Championships where she won the floor and all around titles. After state, Hailey moved on to the Region 1 Championships as a member of the Utah State Team and finished fifth on beam.
As a level 8 during the 2018 season, Hailey began her season at the Rocky Mountain Invitational and won the vault, beam, floor, and all around titles. Hailey continued to have a great season and won the beam, floor, and all around titles at the Utah State Championships. For a second year, Hailey made the Utah State Team and finished in the top 10 on vault, beam, floor, and in the all around at the Region 1 Championships.
Currently, Hailey trains 20 hours per week under coaches Ryan Kirkham and Jessica McDough. This season, Hailey's goal is to score a 38.00 in the all around and win the all around at state. In the future, Hailey hopes to earn a scholarship to a divison 1 school for gymnastics.
