Emeris Torres got her start in gymnastics at the age of six after she was flipping around the house and her parents decided to put her in recreational classes. Right when Emeris started, her coaches noticed something special about her. Soon after, Emeris was invited to join the team program at SCATS Gymnastics.
Emeris began competing in fall 2018 as a level 3. At her first meet, Emeris finished fifth on floor. In November at the SoCal State Championships, Emeris won the floor title and came in second on bars and in the all around.
Following her level 3 season, Emeris began training at Flight School Gymnastics. Emeris began her 2019 level 4 season at the SoCal Judges' Cup where she took fifth on bars. Emeris continued to improve throughout the season and at her last three meets of the season she scored a 9.90 or above on beam. Emeris concluded her season at the SoCal State Championships and came home with a gold medal on beam with a 9.925 as well as silver medals on floor and in the all around. In 2021 Emeris competed level 7 at the SoCal State Championships where she won gold on bars with a 9.700. She then qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she won gold on bars with a 9.850 and finished top 5 in the AA.
Currently, Emeris trains 16 hours per week under coaches Loana Cruz, Chris Kelly, Shannon Lew, and Katrina Zuniga at Flight School Gymnastics. Right now, Emeris is preparing for her 2021 level 7 season where she hopes to score a 38.0 in the all around. In the future, Emeris hopes to represent Team USA at the Olympics or earn a college scholarship to compete for UCLA.
