Ellington Collins began gymnastics at the age of three. Ellington was using all of the furniture at home as gymnastics equipment, so her parents decided she needed an outlet for all of her energy. After her first class, Ellington was "hooked" (and she still continued to use furniture as gymnastics equipment). Ellington progressed through recreational classes and then to hotshots and pre-team. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ellington kept up her training at home and was able to compete level 3 during the 2020-2021 season.
Ellington began her 2020-2021 level 3 season at the World Class In House Meet. One month later, Ellington competed at the Ocean Tumblers Beach Meet where she came in sixth on beam and floor. Ellington improved greatly throughout the season and went on to earn bronze medals on vault, bars, beam, and in the all around at the Virginia State Championships in May.
Ellington kicked off her 2021-2022 season at the World Class Cup where she placed top 5 on vault and finished top 10 in all around. She then competed at the Excalibur Cup. Here, she placed top 5 on bars.
Currently, Ellington trains 17 hours per week as a level 4 & trains TOPs under coaches Ginny Parker and Jordan Ellis at World Class Gymnastics. Ellington's goal for her 2022 season is to score above a 38.00 in the all around. In the future, Ellington hopes to qualify elite and compete at the U.S. Championships.
