Chylar Wilson got her start in gymnastics at the age of seven after she was always climbing on things at home. Chylar's mom got her started in gymnastics so she wouldn't hurt herself at home. Chylar loved being in the gym from the start and was eventually invited to join the team program at Texas East Gymnastics.
Chylar began her competitive career in February 2017 as an Xcel Bronze. At her first meet, the Zenith Winter Classic, Chylar came home with a bronze medal on floor and fourth place finish in the all around. In April at the Texas North State Championships, Chylar finished seventh on beam.
As an Xcel Silver during the 2018 season, Chylar kicked off her season at the Friends of Achievers Invitational where she took second on floor. Four months later at the Texas North State Championships, Chylar finished in the top ten on vault.
Following her 2018 Xcel Silver season, Chylar began training level 2. At her first meet as a level 2 in August 2018, Chylar won the vault title with a 9.850. At Chylar's next two meets she won the vault titles with scores of 9.800. At one of these meets, the Pretty in Pink District Qualifier, Chylar won the vault, bars, and all around titles. Chylar concluded her season at the District 3 Championships were she finished in the top ten on vault out of all level 2s.
Competing level 3 in 2019, Chylar kicked off her season at the District 3 Compulsory Qualifier. Here, Chylar earned a bronze medal on bars. In October at the District 3 Championships, Chylar finished sixth on bars and in the all around and qualified to the Texas North State Championships. Chylar concluded her season at North State with a third place finish on vault and fourth place finish on bars.
Chylar began her 2020 level 4 season at the Texas Challenge where she won the bars title with a 9.650. Three months later at the District 3 Championships, Chylar earned bronze medals on vault and bars. From the District Championships, Chylar qualified to the Texas North State Championships where she concluded her season winning the all around title as well as second place on vault and floor.
As a level 5 in 2021, Chylar began her season at the PLG District Qualifier. Here, Chylar won the floor title and Tok second on bars and in the all around. Chylar continued to progress throughout the season and went on to finish in the top five on bars and beam at the Texas State Championships.
Currently, Chylar trains 16 hours per week under coaches Chuck Dickerson, Carissa Mercer, and Marisol Mancilla at Texas East Gymnastics. In the future, Chylar hopes to earn a college scholarship for gymnastics.
