Charlie Montgomery got her start in gymnastics at the age of four. Charlie's sister was a gymnast, and Charlie wanted to try it too, so her parents enrolled her in classes. Charlie loved being in the gym from the start and progressed through classes and was eventually invited to join the team program at Zenit Gymnastics.
Charlie began competing in October 2017 as an Xcel Silver. At her first meet, The Galaxy Cup, Charlie won the beam and floor titles as well as a second place all around finish. At her next meet at the Atlanta Centennial Classic in January 2018, Charlie won the floor and all around titles as well as a second place finish on vault and third place finish on bars. In April at the Georgia State Championships, Charlie swept the meet, winning all four event titles and the all around title with a 38.700. From state, Charlie advanced to the Region 8 Championships as a member of the Georgia State Team where she had a great competition in a tough age division, finishing second on vault with a 9.625 and in the top 15 in the Alla round with a 38.175.
In the fall of 2018, Charlie competed one meet of level 4 where she came in second on bars, beam, and in the all around. During the spring 2019 season, Charlie competed Xcel Gold and began her season at the Zenit Lucky Star Challenge where she won the bars and all around titles. Throughout the remainder of the regular season meets, Charlie finished in the top two in the all around at all of her competitions. In April at the Georgia State Championships, Charlie won the floor title and came in second on floor and in the all around. For the second year, Charlie qualified to the Region 8 Championships as a member of the Georgia State Team. Charlie concluded her season at regionals with top five finishes on vault and beam as well as an eighth place finish in the all around with a 38.225.
Following her 2019 Xcel Gold season, Charlie began training at Georgia All-Star Gymnastics. Charlie tested out of level 5 in September 2019 and then began her optional career in December 2019 as a level 6. At her first meet o the season, the Kick-Off Meet, Charlie won the vault, beam, floor and all around titles. Charlie was able to compete four more meets during the 2020 season before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. Charlie had her best meet of her season at Nashville Nights in February where she came in second on bars and in the all around as well as third on beam.
Charlie competed one meet of level 7 in November 2020 where she won the vault title and came in second on bars, beam, floor, and in the all around. Charlie then competed her first level 8 meet in January 2021 at the Hilton Head Island Invitational. Here, Charlie won the floor title. In February at the Spring Break-Out Meet, Charlie won the vault, bars, floor, and all around titles. One month later, Charlie concluded her season at the Georgia State Championships with a third place finish on floor and sixth place finish in the all around.
Charlie kicked off her 2022 season at the Winter Blast meet earning a silver medal on beam and bronze in the all around.
Currently, Charlie trains 30 hours per week under coach Jorgen Falk at Georgia All-Star Gymnastics. In the future, Charlie hopes to earn a college scholarship for gymnastics.
