Cecily Rizo had lots of energy when she was little and loved jumping over things. She officially got her start in gymnastics at the age of six and began competing at the age of seven as a level 4 in 2012 with Powerhouse TNT Gymnastics. Cecily finished her season at the District 4 Championships with her best meet of the season. Following her 2012 season, Cecily began training at HUGS Gymnastics. Due to the USAG skill/level change in 2013, Cecily competed a second season of level 4 during the fall 2013 season. At the Texas South State Championships, Cecily finished fourth on floor and seventh in the all around. Cecily moved on to the Texas State Championships where she earned a silver medal on vault and placed sixth all around with a 38.050.
Cecily competed level 5 during the spring 2014 season. During the summer of 2014, Cecily participated in TOPs Testing and went on to make the TOPs National B Team. During the optional 2015 season, Cecily competed level 7 with Love Gymnastics. At her first meet, Cecily won the beam and all around titles as well as the silver on floor and a bronze on bars. Cecily had another great second meet and earned silver medals on beam and in the all around. Cecily concluded her season at the Region 3 Championships where she placed in the top 10 on vault, bars, and floor. For a second year, Cecily participated in TOPs Testing and made the TOPs B Team.
As a level 8 during the 2016 season, Cecily began her season at the Alamo Classic where she won the floor title and placed third all around. At the Texas State Championships, Cecily placed sixth on bars. Cecily moved on to regionals where she placed in the top 10 on vault, bars, and beam.
After her 2016 level 8 season. Cecily began training at Texas Dreams. Cecily began her 2017 season at the Texas Prime Meet where she placed fifth on vault. Cecily continued to improve throughout the season, but was only able to compete vault at state, and came away with 9th place. Cecily competed a second year of level 9 during the 2018 season. At her first meet of the season. The Friends of Achievers Invitational, Cecily won the vault title and placed second all around. Cecily had a great regular season and entered the postseason at the Texas State Championships. Here, Cecily took home a silver medal on vault and placed fifth on bars, beam, and in the all around. At the Region 3 Championships, Cecily placed second on bars and fourth on vault. From regionals, Cecily qualified to the Western Championships. Cecily had her best meet of the season at Westerns and earned silver medals on bars, floor, and in the all around. Cecily also brought home a bronze medal on vault — a great end to the season!
Cecily began her 2019 season at the Texas Prime Meet competing as a level 10. Here, Cecily took third on vault, bars, and in the all around. Two weeks later, Cecily competed at the Buckeye National Elite Qualifier where she earned her Junior Elite compulsory score. Cecily concluded her season at the Auburn National Elite Qualifier in June where she won the bars, floor, and all around titles.
Cecily kicked off her 2020 season at the Texas Prime Meet. Although she only competed vault and bars, Cecily finished second on both events. Cecily competed two more meets throughout the season before the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Cecily began her 2021 season at the Texas Prime Meet. Here, Cecily finished ninth on bars with a 9.525. In March at the Texas State Championships, Cecily earned silver medals on bars, beam, and in the all around. Three weeks later, Cecily competed at the Parkettes National Elite Qualifier as a senior elite where she won the vault title. Shortly after, Cecily competed at the Region 3 Championships where she had a phenomenal meet, winning the bars, beam, and all around titles as well as second place finishes on vault and floor. From regionals, Cecily qualified to represent Region 3 at the Level 10 National Championships. Cecily concluded her season at nationals with a first place finish on bars as well as top 10 finishes on vault and in the all around.
Cecily kicked off her 2021-2022 season at the WOGA Elite Compulsory Qualifier where she earned her senior elite compulsory score. Cecily competed her first level 10 meet of the season at the Friends of Achievers meet in January, winning the beam and floor titles and finishing second on vault, bars, and in the all around. She then competed at Texas Prime winning vault and earning bronze medals on beam and in the all around.
Currently, Cecily trains 28 hours per week under coaches Alicia Goodwin and Marcus Harlin at Texas Dreams Gymnastics. In the future, Cecily’s goal is to earn a college scholarship, Make the US National Team, and represent Team USA at a World Championship.
