Camryn Nelson got her start in gymnastics at the age of two in a mommy and me class. Camryn began competing in January 2014 as a level 3 with Cherry Hill Gymnastics, and went on to win the bars title and take third all around at the New Jersey State Championships. Following her level 3 season, Camryn began training with Jersey All Star. Camryn competed level 4 during the 2014-2015 season and finished in the top 10 on bars and in the all around at state. During the summer of 2015, Camryn participated in TOPs Testing. From her TOPs State Testing, Camryn qualified to National Testing, and from National Testing, Camryn made the TOPs National A Team.

Camryn’s optional career began in November 2015 as a level 7 with Will-Moor Gymnastics. At her first meet of the season, Camryn won the bars, floor, and all around titles. Throughout the season, Camryn placed in the top 3 in the all around. Camryn finished up her season at the New Jersey State Championships where she placed second on floor and in the all around. In 2016, Camryn also began attending Developmental Invite Camp. As a level 8 during the 2016-2017 season, Camryn won all four event and the all around at her first meet of the season. Camryn had a great level 8 season and went on to place second on floor at state. From state, Camryn qualified to the Region 7 Championships. At regionals, Camryn placed third on bars and fifth on floor.

During the summer of 2017, Camryn continued to upgrade her skills and prepare for her 2018 Hopes season. Camryn began her Hopes season at the Auburn National Elite Qualifier. On the first day of competition, Camryn earned her Hopes compulsory score, five points above the minimum score required. Camryn had another fantastic day of competition on the second day, winning the bars, beam, floor, and all around titles, and earning her Hopes 10-11 optional score, qualifying for Hopes and to the Hopes Classic. One month later, Camryn competed at the Brestyan’s National Elite Qualifier to gain experience and prepare for the Hopes Classic. Camryn had another great meet at the Brestyan’s Qualifier, and won the bars, beam, and all around titles. In early July, Camryn competed at the Hopes Classic and had a solid competition finishing third on bars and in the all around as well as fifth on floor. From the Hopes Classic, Camryn moved on to the Hopes Championships. Here, Camryn finished fourth on beam and in the all around as well as fifth on vault.

Currently, Camryn trains 30 hours per week under coaches Kim Bonus and John Anderson Ramirez at Will-Moor Gymnastics. In the future, Camryn’s goal is to become a member of the US National Team.
