Prior to beginning gymnastics, Caitlyn was a ballerina. In summer 2013, Caitlyn decided she wanted to try gymnastics and began a recreational class at Texas Dreams Gymnastics. After a few weeks in the class, Caitlyn was invited to join the team program. With only six months to prepare, Caitlyn began competing level 4 during the fall 2014 season. Caitlyn drastically improved throughout the season and went on to win the beam title and place third on floor at the Texas State Championships.

During the spring 2015 season, Caitlyn competed two meets of level 4 and won the all around titles at both of them. As a level 5 during the fall season, Caitlyn won her first meet of the season. Caitlyn finished her level 5 season at the Texas State Championships where she placed in the top 5 on bars and beam.

Caitlyn’s optional career began in January 2016 as a level 6 at the Texas Prime Meet. Here, Caitlyn won the beam title and took second place on bars, floor, and in the all around. Caitlyn had a great season and finished as the Texas State beam and floor champion. In addition to her State gold medals, Caitlyn also took home a silver medal in the all around and a bronze medal on bars.

Following Caitlyn’s level 6 season, she went through elbow surgery to repair a fracture and had limited time to prepare for her level 7 season. Still, Caitlyn was ready for the first meet of the season, the Texas Prime Meet, and finished fourth on floor there. Caitlyn finished her season at the Texas State Championships where she finished sixth on floor. In 2018, Caitlyn competed a second year of level 7. Caitlyn had a strong season and at state, won the bars title and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. At regionals, Caitlyn won the bars title and placed sixth all around.

Caitlyn began her 2019 level 8 season at the Kurt Thomas Invitational where she won the bars title and took second in the all around. Caitlyn competed another three competitions, but unfortunately was not able to finish the season due to an ankle injury. However, Caitlyn is expected to make a strong comeback for her 2020 season.

Currently, Caitlyn trains 28 hours per week with under the direction of coaches Michelle Ernst, Stephanie Shields, and Ned Lang. Right now, Caitlyn is training both level 8 and 9 skills. Caitlyn’s goals include becoming a Senior Elite and earn a spot on the US National Team with the hopes of representing Team USA in international competitions.
