Briley Sanderson started gymnastics at the age of five after she went on a field trip to gymnastics and instantly loved it. She was soon invited to train on team as a level 3 when was six years old.
In 2019, Briley started her first level 3 season at the Jerrell Steele Invitational where she earned a bronze medal on bars and finished in the top five in the all around. Briley continued to progress throughout her season and qualified to the Virginia State Championships. Here, she concluded her season finishing in the top five on bars and beam and placed in the top ten in the all around.
Kicking off Briley's 2020 season as a level 4, she competed at the Aerials Invitational where she placed in the top 15 in the all around. Briley was able to compete three more meets before the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19. Briley had her best performance of the season at the Excalibur Cup where she finished sixth on beam with a 9.425. Briley competed a second season of level 4 during the 2021 season. At her first meet of the season, the Beach Meet, Briley earned silver medals on bars and floor as well as a bronze medal on beam. At her next meet, the World Class Invitational, Briley won the beam title and finished second on floor as well as third in the all around. In May at the Virginia State Championships, Briley came home with the beam title, silver medals on floor and in the all around, and bronze medals on vault and bars.
Competing Level 5 during the 2021-2022 season, Briley began her season at the World Class Cup where she came home with a silver medal on bars as well as fourth place finishes on beam and in the all around.
Currently, Briley trains 16-20 hours per week under coaches Ginny Parker, Casey Overton, and Nici Marshall at World Class Gymnastics. Briley's goal for her 2021-2022 level 5 season is to score a 36.00 in the all around, have clean form, and compete her back handspring on the beam. In the future, Briley hopes to compete level 10 and maybe in college as well.
