Ava Essler, coached by Dan Witenstein, Matt Winn, Pam Evans, Wendi Fiaskoski, and Brian Carey, is a level 7 gymnast from Arizona Sunrays. As a level 7 in 2019, Ava took third on vault and floor at the Arizona State Championships and qualified to the Region 1 Championships where she finished third on beam. Ava competed a second season of level 7 in 2020 and kicked off her season at the Winter Sun Invitational where she finished fourth on floor. Ava continued to have a solid season, but unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ava's season was cut short as the remainder of the season was cancelled.

Prior to level 7, Ava finished fourth on floor at the Arizona State Championships as a level 6 in 2018. In 2017 as a level 5, Ava finished second on bars. As a level 3 in 2016, Ava took home bronze medals on vault, beam, floor, and in the all around at state, and as a level 2 in 2015, Ava won the bars title and finished third on beam at state.

Currently, Ava trains 20 hours per week and has a goal to compete level 10 and eventually earn a college scholarship to her dream school: UCLA.
