Anna Tava got her start in gymnastics at the age of seven in recreational classes and loved being in the gym from the start. Anna began competing in the fall of 2015 as a level 3 with US Gymnastics Develop Center II. After her first level 3 meet, Anna finished in the top two in the remainder of her level 3 competitions including the New Jersey State Championships where she won the all around title.
Anna competed her first level 4 meet in October 2016 and finished first on vault, floor, and in the all around. In February 2017 at the New Jersey State Championships, Anna brought home a silver medal on floor and bronze medal on bars.
Anna began her optional career in December 2017 as a level 6 at the Greater New York Gymnastics Invitational. Here, Anna won the beam title and took second on bars and in the all around. In January 2018 at the SCEGA California Classic, Anna won the beam and all around titles. Three months later at the New Jersey State Championships, Anna finished in the top 10 on beam and floor.
Competing level 7 during the 2018-2019 season, Anna began her season at the Greater New York Invitational where she took second on floor as well as third on beam and in the all around. Prior to the state championships, Anna won the all around title twice and came in second another two times. Anna concluded her season at state with a bronze medal winning floor routine.
Anna kicked off her 2019-2020 level 8 season at the Greater New York Invitational where she brought home the bars, floor, and all around titles.In February at the Excalibur Cup, Anna earned her Hopes 12-13 compulsory score. Anna also competed level 8 at the Excalibur Cup where she swept all four events and the all around. Unfortunately, the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Due to the abrupt end to the 2020 season, Anna kept her Hopes compulsory qualifying score for the 2021 season and the Hopes 12-13 age group was changed to 13-14. Anna began her 2021 season at the US Gym Mahwah Season Opener where she competed her first and last level 9 meet and won all four events and the all around. Anna competed her first level 10 meet in February at the Heart 2 Heart Classic where she once again won all four events and the all around. In March at the New Jersey State Championships, Anna finished in the top 5 on beam, floor, and in the all around. Two weeks later, Anna competed at the Parkettes National Elite Qualifier and earned her Hopes 13-13 optional qualifying score to qualify to the Hopes Classic in Indianapolis at the end of April. Anna next competed at the Region 7 Championships and earned a bronze medal on floor as well as eighth all around, qualifying as a first alternate to the Development Program Level 10 National Championships. Anna competed at the Hopes Classic at the end of April where she had a great meet, earning a bronze medal on bars and ninth all around to qualify for the Hopes Championships in May.
Currently, Anna trains 30 hours per week under coaches Rhayane and Alexandre at US Gymnastics Development Center II. In the future, Anna hopes to earn a spot on the US National Team and possibly represent Team USA at the Olympics.
