Alexa Liberty got her start in gymnastics at the age of four after she was climbing and flipping around the house. Alexa's parents decided to sign her up for a recreational class, and she was soon after invited to join the pre-team at The Rock Gymnastics. Alexa remained in pre-team for a brief amount of time, and then began competing in the fall of 2017 as a level 2. As a level 3, Alexa scored a perfect 10.0 on vault at the District 2 Championships. Shortly after, Alexa won the vault, beam, and all around titles at the Texas North State Championships. Following her level 3 season, Alexa began partaking in a hybrid home school program.
Alexa competed her first meet of level 4 at Texas Tough in February 2019. Here, Alexa won the beam, floor, and all around titles. In April at the NCAA Youth Gymnastics Challenge, Alexa brought home gold medals on bars, beam, floor, and in the all around. During the summer of 2019, Alexa participated in TOPs Testing. From state testing, Alexa qualified to National Testing as one of the top eight year olds in the country. From National Testing, Alexa made the TOPs National B Team. During her fall 2019 level 4 season, Alexa won the vault, bars, floor, and all around titles at the District 2 Championships. Two weeks later at the Texas North State Championships, Alexa won the bars title with a huge 9.90, beam, floor, and all around. Alexa concluded her level 4 season at the Texas State Championships where she brought home gold medals on bars (with another 9.90) and beam, as well as a silver on floor.
After testing out of level 5 and skipping level 6, Alexa began her optional career as a level 7 at the 2020 Alamo Classic. Here, Alexa won the floor title and came in second on bars. Alexa had her best meet of her season at the RSA Invitational, prior to the season being canceled due to COVID-19, where she won the beam title and second on floor and in the all around.
Alexa participated in two more level 7 meets in December 2020 and January 2021 before moving on to compete level 8 during the remainder of the 2021 season. In December 2020, Alexa participated in the Level 7 challenge to qualify to represent the state of Texas at the National Judges Cup. At the Level 7 National Judges Cup in January, Alexa won the bars and beam titles. At her first meet of the 2021 season, the Biles Invitational, Alexa won the beam and floor titles with scores of 9.600 and 9.900, respectively. In March at the Texas State Championships, Alexa finished sixth on floor and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. Alexa concluded her season four weeks later at the Region 3 Championships where she earned a gold medal on floor and came in fourth all around.
Currently, Alexa trains 28 hours per week under coaches Tina Rusinovich and Woolam Cho at The Rock Gymnastics. Alexa's goal for her 2022 season is to qualify Hopes. In the future, Alexa hopes to make the US National Team, represent Team USA at the Olympics, and earn a college scholarship for gymnastics to Arkansas, UCLA, OU, or LSU.
